Why clinics price per eye
Each eye has its own prescription, is measured on its own and can need a different treatment. Some people only need one eye done, and some clinics treat the eyes on different days.

Both eyes, treatment by treatment

| LASIK | €1,500 to €2,600 | €3,000 to €5,200 |
| LASEK, PRK or TransPRK | €800 to €2,600 | €1,600 to €5,200 |
| SMILE | €2,600 | €5,200 |
| Implantable contact lens (ICL) | €2,900 to €3,900 | €5,800 to €7,800 |
| Lens replacement (RLE) | €2,900 to €3,700 | €5,800 to €7,400 |
When one eye is enough
- Only one eye needs correcting.
- The other eye was treated before.
- Monovision or blended vision, where one eye is deliberately left a little short-sighted for reading (some clinics still treat both, by different amounts).
Comparing two quotes
- Per eye or both eyes.
- For your prescription, or a 'from' price.
- The assessment fee, and whether it comes off.
- The number and length of check-ups included.
- Whether a top-up is included.
- Drops and medicines.
Questions people ask
Is it cheaper to have both eyes done together?
Some clinics price both eyes as a pair; most simply double the per-eye price. Ask.
Do I pay more if one eye is worse?
Sometimes. The price can depend on each eye's prescription, so the two eyes can be priced differently.
Can I have one eye now and one later?
Yes, though most people prefer both done close together so their eyes match. The surgeon will advise.
